As part of a public policy course at Dartmouth College, “PBPL 85 Topics in Global Policy Leadership”, I traveled to Ukraine in December 2016 with a group of 12 total students to research civil society development in Ukraine. We spent September to November 2016 learning about Ukraine in the classroom, and in December we traveled there to interview civil society leaders and understand how USAID funds were being used for civil society development.

In particular, my team of three students looked at Ukraine’s media sector and environment. We interviewed many civil society leaders who spoke about the challenges of Russian misinformation and difficulties in funding an independent media.

The report can be found here, and it was shared with the USAID mission in Ukraine.
